Understanding Hypnotherapy
This page is still being worked on…
Hypnosis is a natural state of altered consciousness in which it is possible to communicate with the subconscious mind. We all experience a state of hypnosis regularly: when you are lost in a piece of music, daydreaming, upon awakening or just before sleep.
Hypnosis involves the patient being in a trance-like state which could be described as being deeply relaxed with an enhanced sense of awareness. Here the conscious mind is suppressed and the subconscious mind becomes more accessible.
Your hypnotherapist will suggest ideas, concepts and agreed lifestyle changes to you during this time which become firmly planted.
One of the aims of hypnotherapy is to re-programme patterns of behaviour within the mind, empowering the patient to overcome fears, phobias and negative thoughts.
